Every summer for many years I have been traveling from Texas to Michigan with my family. We visit my husband’s cherished cabin on the shores of Lake Superior to swim, camp, hike and relax. I particularly love to walk on the beach in the shallow water looking at the beautiful granite rocks that are perfectly smooth from years of rolling in the surf. I imagine that these pebbles were created 400 million years ago during the birth of a great mountain range. The time I spend walking and gathering is a time of contemplation and peace. John joined me one afternoon and helped gather small rocks for a pendant idea of mine. I took a small, carefully curated selection to India where I designed diamond caps for them. I am hoping to share a reminder of peace and tranquility with others. When life gets hectic, a simple smooth rock can remind us to breathe deeply and appreciate what really matters.
